What kind of updates can I expect during a board and train?

We utilize e-signature software "Dropbox Sign" to send and sign your paperwork.

Frequent updates with videos and pictures throughout the training process that are detailed with helpful information you can refer back to in the future.

A "go home folder" at the end with a certificate of completion and some fun goodies. :)

If they are e-collar trained, do they always need to have the e-collar on?

I believe in using what works for each individual dog. The e-collar isn’t a tool for control or obedience as much as it is an insurance policy against avoidable incidents. I generally have my personal dogs wear e-collars whenever they are going to be in public even if I may not ever touch the button!

Around the house unless we are addressing nuisance behaviors I believe in giving my dogs plenty of time to relax as well.

Does my dog always need to use a crate?

Mileage varies greatly for crate use! Everyone has a different lifestyle and schedule. I use crates generally if I'm not home or if I am limiting dogs’ access to self satisfaction or destructive behavior. In a scheduled routine with plenty of stimulation and activity during time spent out of the crate, the crate will remain a place to relax and rest. Be sure to go out and train!

What is the difference between reactivity and aggression?

Reactivity requires triggering by an outside stimulus. An unfamiliar sound, person, dog, an object or place or person associated with prior trauma etc. the list goes on.

With reactivity we need to condition rock solid obedience and carefully re-expose the dog to the trigger while maintaining obedience and a calm state of mind. By having a new task to remain focused on that has clear rules and rewards we enable our dogs to overcome fixation on their triggers, enhance focus and self confidence as well as trust in our leadership.

Aggression is a forward form of violence or spatial pressure intended to deter threats or to satisfy predatory instincts to fight for territory or consume other animals for survival. With truly aggressive dogs the goal is management and learning how to channel their natural drives and desires into appropriate avenues so we can maintain positive control and avoid any risk to ourselves or others.

Most dogs we think are being aggressive are actually just being reactive and need to learn to contend with their insecurities and navigate through world in a more comfortable and confident way.

Truly aggressive dogs are more rare but they require more supervision and management long term.

What is your refund policy?

As per our three and five week board and train contracts, all board and train clients agree that if they cancel sooner than 30 days from the board and train start date, they will not receive a refund.

We believe in excellent client service and satisfaction. We are flexible for rescheduling  and working with people whenever possible, but business demands necessitate that short notice cancelations are unable to qualify for refunds. Our schedule puts constraints where often we are booked out months in advance so we hope you understand this structure.

For lesson clients, the policy is there are no refunds. This is due to the nature of payment as all monies owed is due in full on the day of the first lesson of each package.

We can accommodate in other ways as we understand that sometimes "life happens". Therefore, if you need to push your next lesson to a later date we can work with you.

If you do need to reschedule, we need a minimum of 24 hours notice in writing. Email or text are both acceptable form of communication to reschedule your lesson.
